Once again – we’re proud!
MARIELENA ZUNIGA WINS JOURNALISM AWARD
We are thrilled to announce that our own Marielena Zuniga is the recipient of a very prestigious award from the General Federation of Women’s Clubs: the 14th Annual Jane Cunningham Croly Print Journalism Award for Excellence in Covering Issues of Concern to Women.
Marielena’s articles were published in the Soroptimist’s Best for Women magazine under the topics: “The Breastfeeding Battle”, “The Lack of Obstetricians”, and “Gender in the Media”.
Past recipients of the Croly Award include Mariane Pearl, for her articles for Glamour magazine, and Wall Street Journal reporter, Rachel Zimmerman.
Needless to say, we are all very proud of Marielena who will be accepting her award at GFWC’s 118th Annual International Convention in Cleveland on June 15th. Marielena claims to be nervous about speaking to an audience of 500, but we know she’ll be brilliant!

I have to say it too. We are so proud of Marielena. She SO deserves to be recognized for her sensitive writing about the problems faced by women all over the world.
It is indeed a pleasure to be associated with a group that includes writers like Marielena! We will be (metaphorically) behind you on that podium on the 15th as you accept your well-deserved award!
I consider myself really blessed to be able to use my writing to make women’s issues known. And I feel especially blessed to know each of you as the wonderful women and writers you are! Sandy, Sharen, Gretchen and Joan, your support means to much to me. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Way to Go Elena!!
